The cycle, four times over

For fifteen years, the same idea. And the same collapse.

Communication that needs no infrastructure: no cell tower, no ISP, no satellite, just the phones already in everyone's pockets, passing messages hand to hand. The cycle runs the same way each time. An app launches, built for festivals or disasters. It goes viral from a protest or a blackout, not from marketing. Downloads spike into the hundreds of thousands in days. Then reality: security researchers break the crypto, or the crowd disperses and the mesh goes silent because a mesh with no nearby users is only a phone, or the team learns that people will not pay for an app they need once a year.

Why it keeps failing on phones

Three walls, every time.

01

Cold start

A mesh needs density. Protests and blackouts provide it for free, which is why they are the only reliable viral moments. A Tuesday afternoon does not.

02

iOS backgrounding

Apple suspends Bluetooth advertising when an app leaves the foreground. Two locked iPhones cannot reliably find each other, so every phone-only mesh quietly degrades the moment people pocket their phones.

03

No one pays

The consumer price for this category was set at zero, first by free apps and now permanently by a nonprofit-backed incumbent. A free app is pure cost.

Where we come in

Built knowing all of this.

The differences are specific, and each one answers a documented failure mode rather than a slogan.

Delivery confirmation
Ack and relay tell you the message arrived. In search and rescue or incident response, "did it arrive" is the entire product.
Windows relay hubs
Fixed, always-on relay nodes with a dashboard. A hub anchors a venue and backstops the mesh when phones sleep, solving day-one density in a bounded space.
Compression built for BLE
Dictionary compression for combined messages inside Bluetooth’s limited bandwidth.
Last-known-location mapping
A situational-awareness layer, without dedicated hardware.
No new hardware
Standard phones, plus any Windows machine already on hand.
The discipline this category demands

Claims broke this category. Benchmarks are the answer.
